The First Shift · Free · 15 minutes
Your team's time. Your customers. The proposals and quotes you sent that never got a reply, and you never had the time to chase. The work you've already done. What your business knows. In 15 minutes, free, I'll find what's being overlooked in yours. A couple of days later, I'll hand you the tool to start putting it to work. You keep it whether we ever work together or not.
I take on three new First Shifts a week, because I do every one myself.
Each figure comes from a separate piece of work. The last one is an assessment estimate, not a result.
01 / What you want
You know what you want from your business. More money coming in, and more time back. A team that isn't stretched thin. And a business that doesn't need you in the middle of everything.
You also know what it's always taken to get there: more people, more hours, more of your own evenings.
Every business is sitting on assets it has stopped noticing. Not because anyone was careless. Until now, putting them to work meant hiring someone to do it, so they just sat there.
For the first time, AI can do that work in the background, with a person in your business still making every call. You don't hire anyone to make it happen, and nobody has to lose their job over it.
02 / The Night Shift
When a factory needs more out of the same building, it doesn't build a second factory. It adds a night shift. The building and the machines are already paid for, so the extra output costs a fraction of the first.
A service business has never been able to do that. More output always meant more people, and more people meant more wages, more management and more of your time.
That's what's changed. AI can now do a lot of the work that used to need another person. I call what I build the Night Shift, because it runs in the background while your team gets on with everything else, putting to work what your business already has.
The work that used to need another person happens while your team gets on with everything else.
The AI does the legwork, and someone in your business decides. Nothing goes to a client that someone hasn't seen.
Unlike a factory's night shift, nobody has to be hired to staff it. It's a teammate, not a replacement.
03 / What AI did with assets nobody was looking at
None of it needed anything new. Every pound was already in the business.
Old enquiries
159 enquiries that had never turned into work, followed up properly.
Enquiries already paid for
Enquiries reached within 10 days of a system that answers every one straight away. Signed cases doubled, with nothing more spent to get them.
Written-off leads
41,000 leads written off as dead, worked through properly.
Separate pieces of work, kept separate. Every business is different, and results vary.
04 / What one assessment found
Roofing and scaffolding: two companies, about 35 people in the field, and two people holding the office together. You don't need to be in roofing for this to sound familiar.
15 to 19 hours a week that could be handed over, so nobody had to be hired to do it.
An estimated £18,000 to £30,000 sitting in quotes that never turned into work.
Jobs that didn't always reach the office, so they couldn't be invoiced.
Altogether, the assessment put the cost of carrying on as they were at £113,600 a year.
“I like what you're saying, Adam. I do like what you're saying, and I do think this is the way that we are going to be needing to go.”
They also said they'd need to break in gently. Good. That's how it's built: one thing done properly first, then the next. That was one business. Yours will have its own overlooked assets.
05 / Why the usual answers don't get you there
A salary, a subscription, a fee, or more of your evenings.
01
It's often the first thing owners tell me they're about to do. A salary from day one, more training, and when they leave, it all lands back on you.
02
It sits half set up, and now you're the IT department as well.
03
You're already the busiest person in the building. A new tool doesn't come with the hours to learn it.
04
Months of meetings and a strategy document, and nothing working in your business on Monday morning.
06 / Will this work in my kind of business?
That's as true for an accountant, a clinic or an agency as it is for a builder. Which ones you have, and what they're worth, is what the call finds.
07 / Where to start
Not with a six-month AI project, and not with another hire. You start with the most overlooked asset in your business: the one that would give you the most, the fastest, once something finally puts it to work.
That's The First Shift. It's a free 15-minute call where we find it together. A couple of days later, we talk again and I hand you the tool to start on it. You don't need to know anything about AI.
When we talk again, I'll also put a rough number on it. Take your turnover and divide it by about 2,000 working hours. That's what an hour of your time is worth to the business. At £1 million turnover, it's £500 an hour. Which makes your own time one of the most overlooked assets in the building.
More money, more time, a team that isn't stretched? Then how the work gets done today. Not sure? We'll work it out together.
How work comes in, what happens to it after, where your team's time goes, and where yours goes. I don't recommend anything on that first call. Anything I suggested on the spot would be a guess.
Aimed at whatever you said matters most, and written up on one page with what it costs and the first thing to do that week. It's yours either way.
08 / What you get
Why is it free? Most owners I speak to know AI could help, but have no idea where to start. Fifteen minutes is enough to find out whether it's worth going further. If it is, you'll know. If it isn't, you've lost nothing, and you've got a tool.
If you want the full picture afterwards, there's a full version: I go through the whole business and map out three to seven jobs your Night Shift should take on, in order, with what each takes to set up and what it gives back. I'll tell you about it when we talk again, if it makes sense for you.
09 / Who I am, and why AI
I'm Adam Oyedele. I grew up in Hackney, in East London, and these days I live and work in Northampton.
For more than 10 years my job was filling service businesses with leads, through Google, YouTube and Facebook. Over 370,000 pre-qualified leads in that time, for claims firms like Keller Postman UK (now KP Law), insurance brokers like The Insurance Surgery, mortgage brokers, clinics, law firms, agencies and home-services firms. I also ran a sales floor, and grew it from 7 people to 18 in under 10 months.
And for years, clients kept telling me the same thing: they couldn't get hold of the leads I was sending them. Someone would ring the lead at some point that day, often the next day. They'd try two or three times. Then they'd stop. By then, the person who'd enquired had usually gone with someone else.
Most of the setbacks in my career came from exactly that. I lost good clients who couldn't turn the leads into work, decided the leads must be the problem, and left.
That's when it clicked. The leads were doing their job. What decided whether they paid was everything that happened after. And those businesses were sitting on far more than leads that nobody had the time to put to work.
So I started building what happens after the click: systems that answer every new enquiry straight away, follow up properly, work through old leads that were written off, and ask happy clients for reviews. I've built and run every one of them for clients myself. These days I look at the whole business, because the overlooked assets are rarely just the leads.
10 / Quick questions
Two short calls. On the first, 15 minutes, I ask questions and mostly listen. I won't recommend anything on that call. A couple of days later, we talk again and I hand you one tool or suggestion, written up on one page, with what it costs and the first thing to do that week.
Most owners I speak to know AI could help, but have no idea where to start. Fifteen minutes is enough to find out whether it's worth going further. If it isn't, you've lost nothing, and you've got a tool.
No. You tell me how the business runs, and I do the rest.
No. The AI is a teammate, not a replacement. It does the legwork, a person in your business makes the call, and nothing goes to a client that someone hasn't seen. Nobody has to lose their job over it.
That's up to you. Some owners take the tool and run with it. Some want the full picture, so I go through the whole business and map out the jobs their Night Shift should take on. It only comes up if it makes sense for you.
11 / Book your First Shift
It takes about 3 minutes to submit your details. Pick a time that suits you, and if it turns out not to be a fit, I'll tell you why, and point you somewhere better if I can.
I take on three new First Shifts a week, because I do every one myself.
One last thing
Another hire when it gets too much, another evening at the laptop. That's fine. It's what they've always done.
A few will spend 15 minutes finding out what's already in their business that nobody has put to work.
P.S. If you're about to hire someone, do this first. It might change who you hire, or whether you need to. The First Shift is free, the tool is yours either way, and all it takes is 15 minutes, plus a short follow-up.
